Meet the Board
Carolyn Walton

Carolyn Walton has been on the Board of Directors since the inception of High Peaks United in July 2022. Carolyn is an avid skier, golfer, road biker and overall gamer. Carolyn recognizes the challenges the Adirondack region poses to community engagement as well as connectedness, and is dedicated to work on uniting adults for recreational sport leagues.

Carolyn is the owner and founder of a wilderness education company within the region called, ADK Wilderness Opportunity to Offer and Develop Skills (WOODS) Program. Carolyn coaches Varsity Girls Lacrosse for the combined regional Saranac Lake Placid team, SLP. Carolyn is the director of Tri-Lakes Youth Lacrosse that offers programming for kindergarten through sixth grade-aged students. Carolyn moved here from Syracuse, NY for the mountains and stayed for the community.
Megan Riley has served on the Board of Directors since HPU’s inception in July 2022. A mom of two beautiful children, Megan is married to her college sweetheart, Joe. In January 2021, she and her husband relocated from Boston to the North Country and have never looked back.

Soccer has been a constant in Megan’s life, beginning with intramural play at a young age and continuing through varsity soccer in high school. She loves watching the North Country become home and is excited to continue helping the area grow through greater access to sport. While the work is both challenging and rewarding, Megan is inspired by the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated group of women toward a shared goal. As a full-time working mom, Monday night soccer is something she looks forward to each week—a space where she can connect with amazing people, play the game she loves, and find joy in being part of the community.

Ally Burr

Ally Burr has been on the Board of Directors since January 2024. Ally grew up in south central Kansas and began a relationship with sport at a young age. It began with youth soccer at age 4, continued to t-ball, to softball and eventually tennis which provided an avenue for competition at the collegiate level. After nine years competing at United States Tennis Association junior tournaments, Ally played four years of tennis at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. While in college, Ally developed a passion for the power of sport in developing people and served in a variety of sports and non-profit internships.

Upon graduation with a bachelor of arts in mass media and a minor in leadership studies, Ally moved to Saranac Lake, and frequently enjoys recreating with friends, especially the opportunities to play soccer and hockey with like-minded women.
